This is a pretty big one as most of us struggle with change. We fear and resist it because we are scared of the unknown but you are afraid of taking a risk. This causes you to miss out on many good opportunities that come your way. By resisting change, you are instead becoming stagnant and staying stuck in a loop of life that you are meant to keep evolving. 

Being Judged or Compared

Another fear is the fear of comparison or being judged. This is comparing yourself to those around you and how well they are doing to see if you stack up. This can be thoughts of others seeming to have life under control while yours looks chaotic. The trap of comparison only leads to a downward spiral, and it’s essential first to recognize that we can’t assume that we know everything about someone. It’s better to focus on yourself and your own goals and measure your progress in a way that is healthy for your current lifestyle. Don’t base your progress on others’ success around you. We each experience different roads of life and use various tools to achieve our life purpose.

Being Alone

While a short amount of alone time can be healthy, we as human beings are meant to be social creatures. Socializing is a great way to feel connected and at peace with ourselves, but we often dread reaching out and then finding nobody there to respond to our needs. Being alone is also the fear of being ignored or not a priority, which leads to unhealthy habits. Such as staying in bad relationships, never having any alone or reflection time, or even spending all our time online talking to strangers and never getting out to meet anyone in real life. Finding a healthy balance between alone time and surrounding yourself with healthy people and healthy social interactions is essential. 

Failure

One of the most common inner fears we face is the fear of failure. This can be a failure at anything from jobs, relationships, and even goals we set for ourselves. We think many of us fear failure because it’s embarrassing to fail. It’s embarrassing to say we were fired from a job or that a relationship ended, and it makes us feel that we aren’t worthy and don’t measure up. This can cause us to avoid situations we could fail in, so we will never grow. This means missing out on life lessons and opportunities that could help you meet your goals. 

Not Meeting People’s Expectations

Another fear is that we will not meet other people’s expectations. It’s important to remember here to pursue your own goals and dreams, not someone else’s. So often, we chase or pursue goals that are not ours because we feel like we should or are trying to for something else. You are more likely to succeed when you use your talents toward the goals you want to achieve. It’s also because you will have more motivation towards things you want versus someone else pushing you to do something you don’t want to do. This can be done by creating healthy boundaries and letting others know that you are pursuing your goals and dreams that matter to you. That you respect the opinions of others, but you are choosing to do things because they bring happiness into your life and are helping to create the life you are trying to achieve.

Rejection

Another big fear is the fear of being rejected. This is a massive fear as we fear rejection because we are scared of being vulnerable. This causes us to avoid things and situations where we could get rejected. This can be meeting new friends for coffee, asking a boss for a raise, or deciding to enter a new relationship. It’s important to note that if you let this fear of rejection take over, you will always miss new opportunities for growth in your life

Unknown

People often avoid trying something different because they fear the unknown.
